Friday 17 August Under 17s
"This week the U17’s took on Warnervale to play for the Grand Final Spot. The game started very well, with the first 15 minutes good all the Devils way. We moved the ball externally well down the park and held our line.
However, as the game went on, too many missed tackles did not help us achieve our aim. The big fast moving Warnervale forwards broke our line too many times and we paid the price. As the time ticked away, the pressure mounted and unfortunately there were far too many missed tackles, with Warnervale coming away with the win.
The season is not over though, the boys have another opportunity at getting into the Grand Final this week when we take on Avoca at Woy Woy oval Friday night (24 August) kicking off at 7:35pm.
Best on Park were “The Main Man”, Pat, Suli and Tim." - Steve Keiler

"Last game of the year and a last minute shuffle meant we ventured to Bateau Bay to play Warnervale (makes sense?) - our games against the ‘Cats have been tight affairs and it was seen to be a quasi-final.
The little devils were on the back foot early with one of the Warnervale stars cutting a swathe through the Red wall but the mighty 8s bounced back and started to show the brilliant team (& let’s face it - individual brilliance) that has been evident through the year.
Michael supported every player and distributed ball beautifully, Jake fronted up in defence and made some telling turnovers. Ethan B showed strength and determination to retain ball, T-man showed awesome skill in the breakdown and ran with purpose, Charli just scored 5 tries and cover defended as usual, Jayden was a tower of strength with and without the ball. Aiden showed deft touches and found space with his pace, Timoci defended brilliantly and chewed up the metres with the ball, Lincoln charged into the line with the ball and dominated at the breakdown, Saint was up to his usual tricks with steps galore, including the in&away of the day, Manoa was quite simply a rugby player in all facets, and Nat showed strength at the breakdown and charged through gaps all day. We were missing Jack while he is away and Ethan N done his bit for the club again by helping the u9s. Who knows what the score would have been if these guys had been there, as it was, after the early points from Wildcats - the Devils went on a spree and rounded out an undefeated season with a final score line of 60-10.
A huge thank you to all that involved themselves with the season - big thanks to Pete & Kerryn Gray for sponsoring the juniors, Sam & Ceal Hawkins for organising our Party Bus to the SCG - and all the other club sponsors of course!
It has been an absolute pleasure being involved with this little team of champions, who have shown to be a champion team. 😈" - TATTS
"The under 9s were away against kariong for the final game of the season. Two of our team assisted kariong, resulting in a close 9v9 game. The devils played extremely well against kariong, even the two that were helping out kariong!
It was a close exciting game that showed how close the team had become throughout the year. I hope to see everyone team back again next year for the u10s!" - Thomas
"Gosford 15 ( Jacob Grayson - Hill, Isaia Baker, Zane Cash tries) Terrigal 14.
In a match that would see the winner finish second both teams had plenty to play for. The devils welcomed the return of our captain Zane and his direction he provides.
The first half saw Isaia Baker score his first try of the season and Zane Cash cross to see the boys lead at half time 10-7.
The second half was a tight affair with Terrigal taking the lead with five minutes to play. The boys hung in the arm wrestle until Zane set Jacob up to score in the corner and snatch victory.
On a more frustrating note, the match against Terrigal highlighted why I am so proud to be part of our great club, our boys were ridiculed called disgraceful names, abused by Terrigal players and parents after the game, one parent even stopped their car in the car park to call one of our players a dog followed by other expletives. These are taught behaviors by parents and carers which are not acceptable and not behaviors our club condone.
Junior sport should be about kids participation and enjoyment not about winning at all costs, as parents, carers and coaches it is important that we set examples of what is and is not acceptable behavior.
I’m proud to be a Red Devil as we play hard but fair and show respect to our opponents.
Best of luck to our second grade and under 17’s in the finals and great job Karl, TJ and Tatts on your seasons." - Mal Spinks
